Every year all over Italy, in schools, in family homes, in old people’s homes, thousands of people, friends and supporters of UNICEF, make their Pigotte (rag dolls).
The Pigotta is a
rag doll that anyone can make with a needle and thread, by simply following the instructions on the sewing pattern (available from the UNICEF committee or downloadable
here).
All the Pigotte made are offered for adoption in
more than 600 squares throughout Italy, where, at weekends in December, the
UNICEF Adoption Points are set up, in exchange for a minimum offer of 20 Euros. The contribution for the adoption of a Pigotta covers the cost of purchasing a life saving kit made up of antibiotics, vaccines, vitamins, an antimalaria mosquito net and a safe childbirth kit. Therefore an
adopted Pigotta corresponds to a saved life!
Foxy and the Pigotta (rag doll)
Foxy is been the sole sponsor of the UNICEF initiative Adotta una Pigotta® (Adopt a rag doll) since 2002.
Foxy makes an active contribution to promoting the initiative, offering concrete economic which amounted to Euro 200,000 in 2009 alone and active support to promoting UNICEF initiatives throughout the country.
In order to promote the Adotta una Pigotta® initiative and to disseminate the UNICEF message, Foxy produces dedicated advertising campaigns, using the main means of communication (TV, daily press and periodicals, the Internet). Every year Foxy also creates a dedicated graphic project for Adotta una Pigotta®, to be used on the most important product lines in the main period of the initiative.
In 2004 Foxy created the magazine Un Mondo Più Morbido (A softer world), to help to get to know the world of the Pigotta better. “Un Mondo Più Morbido” is a half-yearly magazine which is sent free-of-charge to any one who would like to receive it (the application form can be
downloaded from here). In 2009 270,000 copies of “Un Mondo più Morbido” were distributed.
Moreover, in 2009, Foxy financed the creation of the
Pigotta website.
